Good morning my fellow American’s, my name is Melissa Berman and I would like to be your next President. I am working alongside my Vice Presidential candidate Jami Jannazzo, and together we are working towards making a better America, and a better tomorrow for all. As John Quincy Adams once said “America, with the same voice which spoke herself into existence as a nation, proclaimed to mankind the inextinguishable rights of human nature, and the only lawful foundations of government.” I will never extinguish the rights of my fellow American’s, for America is the land of the free and the home of the brave.
My leadership skills developed back in High School, I was President of Model Congress, and the debate team. This encouraged me to pursue politics in college. I attended Stanford University on a Presidential scholarship, then went to Harvard Law School. In college, I was the President of Student Government, debate team, and was an active member of Young Republicans. Eventually, all my experience gave me the confidence to run for Governor of New York. Being the Governor of New York for ten years, I have signed on many beneficial bills that that helped the New York State school system, served a term with the National Guard, and made plenty of business agreements with other states.
Isis is currently up rising faster and much stronger than ever. Their social media pages have a huge influx of followers every minute. They are persuading people from around the world to follow their ideology. ISIS is not only a fear for American’s, but a fear for all surrounded by their regime. With the current attacks in Paris, the Russian airline and Malaysia, Isis will not back down and will forever want everyone to follow their way of life. As well as the war in Afghanistan, I will try and bring home the troops, and keep some boots on the ground just in case of an attack. Our troops will be forever thanked and should be brought home. An end needs to be put to these deplorable human beings.
America’s debt is currently 18.7 trillion dollars, and is rapidly increasing as we speak. Our debt is the product of federal spending, federal budget deficit, state debts, credit card debt and various other reasons. In order for social security to have money in the future we need to pay back our debt. America has the potential to be free of debt or at least diminish our debt tremendously. In order to flourish, our national debt needs to be lowered drastically. We also overspend on health care, state funds, certain programs that can be cut down as well as many other services. Without debt, our focus can be more attentive to the war on terror, education problems and other various focuses. There can be an America without debt, and we can make it the America it should be.
Every twenty six seconds a student drops out of high school, that’s 1.3 million students each year. On average, only seventy two percent of America’s children graduate high school. America used to be the number one country in education, now we are ranked fourteenth out of forty five countries ranked. The number one school ranked in education is Finland. American education has countless reasons on why it is failing and there are numerous ways to repair the education system. Together we can bring America back to the number one spot in education. For education is important for all. Fixing America’s education system will ensure that more students receive education, dropout rates will decrease, and we will have a higher graduation percentage.
If elected president, I will see to it personally that the war on terror, national debt, and education problems will be fixed. There will be a greater America, and tomorrow for everyone, if we all work together. For our tomorrows need new and different solutions today. Recall the insight of President Abraham Lincoln. On the brink of the Civil War, Lincoln looked change directly in the eye and said: 'The dogmas of the quiet past are inadequate for the stormy present and future. As our circumstances are anew, we must think anew and act anew. And so must we, ladies and gentlemen. We need to look at this old issue in a new way. Not simply for today but to make our tomorrows more rewarding, more fulfilling, more compelling because of the changes we make today. With your help we can think anew, and act anew on the new issues before us today." Thank You.
